Title Deeds

==================================================================

Other than Whittaker, most everyone else credits Einstein with the The Theory of Relativity (special as well as general).

But I was amused that his seminal 1905 Paper on Relativity had the title:

"Electrodynamics of moving bodies"

Well, I did read that Paper...it has lots of E and B. But Electrodynamics was only a scaffolding for the Building.

He certainly didn't call it Special Theory of Relativity...or just Relativity...the Special thing came up because possibly he developed later on the General Theory of Relativity...it wasn't very very general...they say it was all about Gravity as his titles indicate.

Well, what is in a name, you may say.

A lot.

I wrote a Paper in AJP and titled it: "Is length contraction really paradoxical?"

A lousy name, as I realized when Edwin Taylor renamed it: "Flickering Bulb Paradox".

Heavens didn't fall for that Paper either way...but I kicked myself alright for having missed a cute title.

There was this movie in our youth...a Dilip Kumar - Vyjayantimala starrer. Many youngsters fell head over heels with it and watched it a dozen times and more.

Its title was: Madhumati.

Why? Just because it was the name of the heroine. A very catchy name. The film wouldn't have been half as romantic with any other title.

That brings me to this news item from ToI:

*************************************************************************************************************

"Irked by the title of Ram Gopal Varma's film, 'Bezawada Rowdilu' ('Rowdies of Viajayawada') which is in the making, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leader Shobha Rani stormed the office of the AP Film Chamber of Commerce at Filmnagar on Tuesday demanding that the title be changed. Shobha Rani flung chairs, threw files and shouted at the staff for nearly an hour giving vent to her anger. Her entry into the film chamber office itself was dramatic. Giving the clap for a mock muhurat shot for a film with the title, 'Na Peru Ram G Verma, Nenoka Psychoni' ('My name is Ram G Verma, I am a Psycho') in front of the office, she then trooped into it with her supporters. Even as the hapless staff watched, Shobah Rani demanded that an application form be given to her to register the film title.

...Asked if a complaint would be lodged against Shobha Rani, film chamber president K Rama Subba Reddy said although the protest took place in the office, there was not much damage to the property"
