Left Eye Leave

************************************************************************************************************

Tomorrow morning my son will escort me to the Eye Care Center here for the Cataract Correction of my Left Eye.

That means I would be out of net for a week.

About a couple of months back, my right eye was operated upon with rare care...both before- and after-. And there were no aftermaths like a red eye, itching or worse.

And I grabbed the opportunity to hammer and anneal the cataract procedure into 26 blog posts.

I promise not to do it this time unless something interesting turns up.

It is not everyday that one gets the chance to slap the butt of a forbidding-looking liveried Security Chap. And make him grin.

I got it this morning and I am not one to let it pass:

As I was walking down to the Maintenance Office of our Gated Community to pay up our monthly bills, I saw a chap squatting on the floor tying half a dozen hollow bamboo poles into a network of warp and woof using gunny strings. And an Ambulance on standby. And found loitering in an upstairs balcony men and women silently whispering to one another.

Sure sign that one more soul has taken leave of its mortal coils. And waiting for those coils to be disposed off neatly.

When I was returning after a few minutes, I found a hefty Security Chap loitering around the makeshift bier, now with a white cloth spread on it...watching with his arms akimbo, glumly.

I stopped gingerly by him with the default gloom and asked:

"Kuch problem hai kya?"

"Hahn Saab! Ek admi mar gaya kal rath"

"Jawan hai?"

"Nahin Nahin...bahut budda hai?"

"Hum jaisa?"

"Hahn!"

Then came the playful slap, and the grin that followed...
