BoB

==========================================================================

One Sunday noon when I was quietly gathering wool with a cup of Tea under the Bodhi Tree @ Harry's, Amalendu joined me and recited a couple of lines and explained their meaning.

The Poet was describing the feeling he often gets of an inexplicable ecstasy...for no apparent reason at all.

I guess this is what is called the Bliss of Being (BoB).

We see it in babes and toddlers...just a feeling of an enormous sense of well-being (particularly when Ishani hurls spoons and clips from the Balcony of our 13th floor apartment).

As a student of science and having been there and done that at 68, I must admit I am condemned to think that all our intense feelings are due to biochemistry, mostly hormones.

So, I suppose there is an as yet un-isolated chemical called BoB Hormone whose flow is coeval, if not concomitant, with this inexplicable feeling that we have all had at one time or the other.

This 'flow' of BoB hormone is 'occasional' in Poets and is called the Muse by them (Shyamal says a chemical called ethyl alcohol helps).

In Yogis it is perennial...they call it Grace (cocaine helps).

In Theoretical Physicists it is variously called Charm, Top, Bottom or even Strangeness (proximity of Particle Accelerators helps).

BoB hormone is not to be confused with the well-known Love Hormones like Dopamine and Oxytocin which are purely biological and can be attributed to some physical circumstance or the other (like sex).

All of us have experienced BoB sometime or the other...mostly just after waking up from deep sleep (sans hangover).

Since BoB is internally produced and controlled, its production can also be triggered and controlled by mental activities like Meditation and Woolgathering or even Blogging...

The hundred varieties of Yoga: Eastern, Western, Buddhist, Zen, South Indian, North Indian Systems and Practices kick-start the production and flow of this BoB hormone.

I am thinking of applying for a Patent or IPR...

Instead of "Charm, Top, Bottom or even Strangeness", "Charm, Truth, Beauty or even Strangeness" might have been more appropriate in this post's context...
