Tamas & Vikalangi mean Andhakar & Cripple, as you know.
Serves 'em right for changing our dear Rahul's name to Robert (his salah inverse)
In mood for some fancy coffee one day I had gone to the nearest starbucks from our campus where you order at the counter, pay up, tell them your name which they write on a paper cup and then wait for your name to be called ....I waited quite a long time to finally realize they were calling me all along 'SAD,.....SAD,....SAD....
While in India....my last name was a problem, here the too long first one is !
I think I told you this before, but it is relevant:
In 1958 when I joined our AU we had a cute classmate. Her father was a businessman but her mom was a fiery Communist MLA...CPI, there was no CPM then.
So they christened their daughter as Laxmi Tanya.
But our poor anti-intellectual physics teachers never heard of that name and thought it was a typo and used to call her:
Laxmi Tanaya
And she never protested.
She was following my policy of least resistance unwilling to indulge in:
"Bhains ke aagey been bajanaa"
